In 1995, the authors of Westhawk's SNMP stack had the idea that the new platform, Java might make the porting and installing of the manager code simpler in the future. Despite doubts regarding low-level UDP networking and the quality of the graphics expressed by some at the time, this was the start of the SNMP stack in Java.

Westhawk's stack offers the user an easy and clear Java implementation of SNMP. The library is totally flexible in the way it can be programmed, which enables users to send different requests pertinent to their specific requirements. The stack supports SNMPv3 and IPv6.

Westhawk's SNMP stack is FREE and the source code and documentation is included in the distribution. We also run mailing lists to provide information about the stack and we can provide consultancy to support bespoke implementation for clients who require it.
