Information
Reuters is the leading global provider of news, financial information and technology solutions to the world's media, financial institutions, businesses and individuals.

In order to work efficiently with their clients Reuters have placed a number of their own machines within their clients' networks. Occasionally these machines need to be accessed in a secure manner for maintenance purposes.

Westhawk were appointed to develop a system that would provide the field service engineers with a password specific to a particular machine, engineer and date of visit. The system we developed issued secure, 'one time' passwords using a telephone based IVR system, which engineers had to call. After identifying themselves, the password would be read back to the engineer or sent to their pager.

Westhawk also developed web based Admin Tools that enabled Reuters to track each password back to a specific engineer on a particular visit. This meant that if any clients reported issues subsequent to any visit, it was immediately possible to trace the last person to work on the machine and contact them.
